FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: time instances for receiving radio signals transmitted from three radio beacon centres with a top and a bottom transmitting antenna in each are measured at an object. Phase centres of the top and bottom antennae lie in a certain manner. Spatial coordinates are determined from disclosed simple expressions which depend on the average values of repeatedly measured differences between reception times of corresponding radio signals. The method includes a technique for selecting the most accurate of three disclosed versions of determining spatial coordinates of the object, which enables to obtain an axially symmetric coverage area of systems realising said method and significantly widens said coverage area.
EFFECT: high efficiency of transmitting radio signals, possibility of varying the configuration of the coverage area of radio systems and more efficient use of communication resources.
