SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to cardiology. In people with newly arising episode of persisting atrial fibrillation with metabolic syndrome, estimated are waist circumference, systolic and diastolic levels of arterial pressure, level of triglycerides, low and high density lipoproteins, glucose in blood plasma. Index of metabolic syndrome (IMS) is determined as sum of points of all used parameters. IMS value is used to predict spontaneous recovery of rhythm, good effect of drug/electric cardioversion; need of additional examination or formation of constant form of atrial fibrillation.

EFFECT: increase of method efficiency.
