FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves cis-1,4-polymerisation of 1,3-butadiene first, followed by syndiotactic 1,2-polymerisation of the obtained product in the formed polymerisation system in the presence of a catalyst containing a cobalt compound, an alkylaluminium compound and a sulphur compound. In order to stop polymerisation, a halogen-containing acid or salt of a halogen-containing acid is added, where both have the general formula given below (I): M' (X'Oq)rZ's (I) , where M' is a metal atom or a hydrogen atom, X' is a halogen atom selected from chlorine, bromine and iodine, O is an oxygen atom, q is a whole number from 1 to 4; Z' is an anion capable of bonding with an M' atom, r is a whole number equal to or greater than 1, and the sum r+s is the oxidation number of M'.
EFFECT: obtaining polybutadiene with less smell.
