FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: images of two or more neighbouring areas with similar configuration are selected from obtained negative images of exposed areas of an article. One images is subtracted from the other and based on the resultant image, on which defects of the first area of the article are shown on the negative image, and of the other - on the positive image, images of two areas are simultaneously decrypted, considering that dark shades characterise low density of defects of the first area and high density of defects of the second area, and light shades characterise high density of defects of the first area and low density of defects of the second area, where coordinates of defects are determined on the resultant image of two images of the same area turned 90° relative each other, using a given mathematical expression, and characteristics of density of defects of the areas are determined on the resultant image of two images of the same area of the article, shifted 5-10 mm relative each other, where dark shades of the reduced image correspond to low density of defects of areas, and light shades correspond to high density.
EFFECT: high quality of images obtained during radiation inspection.
