SUBSTANCE: method is provided to protect a PMIP tunnel between a service gateway and a new access unit, through which an access terminal carries out communication. On the gateway a request is received to change a PMIP tunnel lock-in for the access terminal from the first access unit to the second access unit, then the first unit key is generated and sent to an intermediate unit of the network, which may generate and issue the first PMIP key to the second access unit, or the first PMIP key is generated on the access gateway as a function of the first unit key, and the first PMIP key is transferred to the second access unit.
EFFECT: reduced time delays during interaction between units.
