FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of decomposing carbonates involves crushing starting material to particle size ≤1 mm, decomposing the carbonates by imparting external energy, tapping the conversion gas and cooling the end product. The starting material decomposed via irradiation with accelerated electrons with energy 100 keV-10 MeV. Irradiation is carried out at pressure lower than atmospheric pressure.
EFFECT: invention enables to lower energy and material consumption of the process, improve quality of conversion products, metal oxides and carbon dioxide, and increase environmental friendliness.
