FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: cathode of plasma engine includes housing in the output part of which there is plasma-forming substance pass. Into the housing there installed is emitter with axial hole the inner cavity of which is interconnected with source of plasma-forming substance; at that, emitter is made from composition of iridium (Ir) with rare-earth metal, in which additives of iridium powder and metal of platinum group are probably contained. Emitter consists of separate cylindrical bushings attached to each other coaxially along end surfaces. At that, inner diameter of emitter bushings is various; at that, bushing located at the output part of cathode has maximum inner diameter.
EFFECT: improving performance and operating characteristics of cathodes for plasma engines.
