FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a stabilising composition containing (A) a polymer of formula 
, where R1 is hydrogen or C1-12-alkyl, R2-COOM or -CH2COOM; M is hydrogen, an alkali or alkali-earth metal ion, or an ammonium ion or mixture thereof; n, m and k are molar ratios of monomers, where n ranges from 0 to 0.95, m ranges from 0.05 to 0.9 and k ranges from 0 to 0.8, and (n+m+k)=1, and the weight-average molecular weight ranges from 500 to 20 000 000 g/mol; (B) a chelating agent; (C) poly-alpha-hydroxyacrylic acid or alkaline salt thereof, or corresponding polylactone thereof, and (D) possibly a polycarboxylic acid polymer or alkaline salt thereof. The invention also discloses a method of treating fibrous material with said stabilising composition.
EFFECT: disclosed composition has a synergetic stabilising effect compared to existing stabilisers.
