FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: proposed laser rocket engine comprise laser emission source, system of pivoting and focusing mirrors, absorption chamber with gasdynamic opening, nozzle, and system to feed working body into absorption chamber. Note here that working body feed channels are arranged on the side of supersonic nozzle critical section. Note also that their axes are arranged tangentially to absorption chamber surface while well-streamlined deflector is arranged in absorption chamber front bottom directed there inside. Proposed method comprises feeding working body into absorption chamber to create plasma cone, working body is heated flow around plasma cone and effuses from supersonic nozzle to create plasma jet. Note here that working body is fed from the side of supersonic nozzle side tangentially to absorption chamber surface to create swirled axially symmetric flow of working body that reaches abruption chamber front bottom and turns around to flow around plasma cone.
EFFECT: higher specific pulse, increased operating hours of rocket engine.
