FIELD: space industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to rocket engines for spacecraft (SC), mainly with an external power supply. The proposed engine consists of a laser source and a target with a hardly evaporating substance (specific heat of vaporization 104-105 J/g), which creates the engine thrust. The target is made in the form of a cone, the angle between the generatrix of which and the axis of the cone is 45°<β<80°. An annular reflector is placed in the lower part of the engine housing, directing the flow of evaporated particles in the direction opposite to the direction of motion of the spacecraft.
EFFECT: ensuring the stability of the spacecraft's pitch and yaw motion, as well as increasing the thrust impulse.
