FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: free running ratchet-and-pawl mechanism comprises ratchet gear, cage and locking plates. Two rings arranged aligned with ratchet wheel are located on side surfaces of the latter. Profile of outer surface of every ring follows that of ratchet wheel outer surface. Note here that sizes of outer surface of every ring exceed those of ratchet wheel outer surface. The cage accommodates locking plates to turn about their axes and spring-loaded to ring outer surfaces.
EFFECT: reduced load on ring outer surface in plates locking to increase service life.
