FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: method enables variation of the configuration of the coverage area of a radio system and formation thereof depending on the set task. This is achieved by that, antennae at reception centres record reception time instances mainly based on the time position of the leading edge of pulses of radio signals arriving from the radio-frequency source, wherein phase centres of the antennae lie in a certain manner. Spatial coordinates are determined from given simple expressions which depend on the average values of repeatedly measured differences between reception times of corresponding radio signals. The method enables to monitor movement in space of an object - radio-frequency source using ground-based equipment. The method can also be used to transmit information.
EFFECT: higher technical-and-economic efficiency and simple circuit design of the corresponding transceiving apparatus.
