The method of playing "coloured" ring tones involves: receiving a request for connection with a "coloured" ring tone centre from callers; obtaining a group identifier from a standard compliant group management unit, in accordance with the group identifier, obtaining a "coloured" ring tone of the caller and playing it.
EFFECT: method, system and corresponding apparatus enable to provide a coloured tone service and a coloured ring tone service in the PS domain and allow other systems to share information on groups from description of coloured tones and coloured ring tones.
