SUBSTANCE: method involves transmitting a Colour Ring Back Tone (CRBT) list acquisition request message that carries a CRBT list identifier for a CRBT platform to match a CRBT list corresponding to the CRBT list identifier, the CRBT list comprising CRBT identifiers and CRBT names; receiving the CRBT list returned according to the CRBT list acquisition request message, and obtaining one of the CRBT identifiers from the CRBT list. The method also involves transmitting a CRBT download request message that carries a user identifier and the CRBT identifier to the CRBT platform to match a CRBT corresponding to the CRBT identifier, and store the CRBT in a ring tone library corresponding to the user identifier.
EFFECT: enabling a user to implement a ring back tone service using user equipment while reducing messaging between the user equipment and the ring back tone platform.
