SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely ophthalmology. For the purpose of the diagnosis of demodectic mange, epilated eyelashes are microscopically examined, a number of viable mite units is determined, an invasiveness coefficient is calculated, and a percentage of live mites is derived. Vegetable oil is used as a contact medium. The examination is conducted in a dark field in normal polychromic or/and red light. Viable mite units are detected by the presence of a dynamic picture of its body in the form of movable, iridescent yellow and green dots in the normal, polychromic light, or in the form of movable black and red dots in the red light.

EFFECT: method provides improved diagnostic accuracy of demodectic mange due to the usage of vegetable oil as the contact medium in addition to new microscopy environment.
