FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing acetonitrile from compounds containing an acetyl group. The method involves contact of compounds from the CH3COR family, where R denotes CH3COO (acetic anhydride), CH3CH2O (ethyl acetate), ONH4 (ammonium acetate), or mixtures thereof, containing two or three components listed above, with ammonia gas in a tubular reactor in the presence of catalysts γ-Al2O3 or γ-Al2O3 with 2-10% H3PO4 (wt) at reaction temperature 320-415°C and feeding raw material in amount of 0.3-1.05 kg raw material per litre of the catalyst per hour.
EFFECT: method widens the range of starting material for producing acetonitrile and lowers power consumption during conversion and extraction of the end product.
