FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves irradiating the water surface in the ultraviolet range at excitation wavelength λexc and recording intensity of fluorescent radiation I(λ1) and I(λ2) from the water surface under analysis in two narrow spectral ranges with centres at wavelengths λ1, λ2. The measured relative fluorescence is compared with threshold values. Specific threshold values depend on the specific excitation wavelength λexc and are determined from the condition of maximum probability of correct detection given an acceptable false alarm probability value.
EFFECT: high accuracy.
