SUBSTANCE: when designing a tachograph system with maximum protection from manipulations, signals from at least two independent sensors (14, 16, 18) are recorded and compared in a computing unit for determining speed, and an error message associated to the corresponding sensor is stored in case of considerably different signals. In one version, signals from at least three independent sensors (14, 16, 18) are compared with each other and checked for reliability, wherein considerably different signals are excluded from the plurality of signals, and the recorded speed of the vehicle is determined using one or more signals which differ from each other within a defined range of maximum values.
EFFECT: protection from unauthorised access.
