FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: audio playback system estimates signal amplitude and speed, finds a scaling factor from a look-up table (LUT) for the given amplitude and speed pair (or calculates the scaling factor for polynomial approximation to LUT) and applies the scaling factor to the signal amplitude. The scaling factor is an estimation of non-inertial nonlinear distortion of the converter at a point in the phase plane, given by the amplitude and speed, which is found by applying a test signal, having known amplitude and speed, to the converter, measuring the amplitude of the recorded signal and giving the scaling factor equal to the ratio of the amplitude of the test signal to the amplitude of the recorded signal. Scaling can be used so as to pre- or post-compensate for the audio signal depending on the audio converter.
EFFECT: disclosed solution enables real-time compensation of non-inertial nonlinear distortion in an audio converter and is cheap.
