TWELVE-PHASE SUCHKOV'S CONVERTER Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC H02M7/06

Abstract RU 2443049 C1

FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: converter equipment may be used for creating controlled DC drives for machines to enhance machine performance and also at the converting stations for power supply to electric railroads, for electrometallurgical and chemical industry, to attain the technical result - to reduce the rectified voltage ripple and to reduce the higher harmonic components content in the AC curve. The twelve-phase Suchkov's converter consists of a three-phase transformer with three windings (1, 2, 3) of the primary coil, connected by a star connection to the network phases (1, 2, 3) and six inter-connected coils (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) of the secondary coils and connected to the converter's rectifier cell. Similar terminals (beginning) of all the coils are marked with the “star” sign (*), wherein the coil beginning (4) of the secondary coil is connected to the coil beginning (9) of the secondary coil, the coil end (9) of the secondary coil is connected to the coil end (6) of the secondary coil, the coil beginning (6) of the secondary coil is connected to the coil beginning (5) of the secondary coil, the coil end (5) of the secondary coil is connected to the coil end (8) of the secondary coil, the coil beginning (8) of the secondary coil is connected to the coil beginning (7) of the secondary coil, the coil end (7) of the secondary coil is connected to the coil end (4) of the secondary coil, thus closing the circuit of secondary oil windings. Each coil of secondary transformer windings is a hexagon leg. The anode group rectifier cells (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15) have their cathodes connected to the units that connect the secondary coil windings of the transformer. The cathode group rectifier cells (16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21) have their anodes connected to the branch line from half coil windings of the secondary windings of the transformer.

EFFECT: decreased rectifier cell direct currents in the course of transformer operation that eventually enables enhancing the transformer's coefficient of performance and to decrease the dimensions, weight and its cost.
