METHOD TO GROW TREE TYPE OF SVERDLOVSK ZIG-ZAG WEEPING WILLOW Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A01G1/06 A01G7/00 A01G23/00 

FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of agriculture. In the method the stock is a common willow (Salix alba L.), and the graft is a Sverdlovsk Zig-Zag weeping willow (Sx.Sverdlovskaja isvilistaja I v.Schabarovet I Beljaeva). In April hardwood cuttings of the common willow are put into vessels with water for 7-8 days until adventitious roots appear. Then in the nursery, following 1×1 m pattern, they are planted into moist soil, and in July, at the second and third year, to create low and high holed trees, in the zone of grafting height all sprout formations are removed, and chip budding is carried out with 3 buds and a cyme taken from the annual height increment of the Sverdlovsk Zig-Zag weeping willow directed to different sides. Eyes are fully wrapped with polyethylene film with thickness of 60-80 microns and left until spring of the next year. In early spring to wake up the buds, film and sprouts below the grafting area are removed.

EFFECT: method provides for fast increment of buds in the form of zigzag weeping branches, good compatibility of the graft with the stock without tumours and rejections, at the same time no root shoots originate at the stock, and the bole provides increment with the graft evenly along the thickness, to eliminate formation of side sprouts, besides, the quick-growing root system has sufficient anchorness for planting the plants without support.
