FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and may be used in production of moulding complex-shape articles from aluminium alloys by thixomoulding. Thixomoulding is carried out in press provided with container, pusher, female die made up of two semi-female dies with grooves on end faces and central boss whereon fitted is snap-up ring. Female die is mounted above container face by means of pusher and spacer. Pusher is places in its bottom position. Female die is closed by casings and mould is heated. Then, casings with spacers is dismantled while female die is arranged in opening made in container. Thixomoulding of heated billet is performed. Note here that axle box housing lower part is produced by piercing male die. Now, female die with finished article is upped by pusher to arranged wedges in grooves on its end faces. Female die is turned in horizontal plane through 90° and placed onto container. Wedges are used to move apart semi-female dies so that finished atcile may be removed therefrom.

EFFECT: uniform filling of mould cavities, higher quality of moulded articles.
