FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to woodworking and may be used at saw milling factories. Proposed method comprises, first of all, setting processing parameters: required width B and radius R of article after processing. Then, coordinates of the slab left and right edges are defined with the help of ultrasound transducer, center of the slab cross section center is determined and slab cross section height step variation in the range of -B/2 to +B/2 relative to said center is measured. Then elementary rectangular areas are defined in every step as well as total cross section area Sr as the sum of said elementary areas. Now, slam is milled at the feed rate corresponding to allowance Sz=Sr-Sart, where Sart is article cross section after milling that corresponds to preset parameters.
EFFECT: higher accuracy and longer life.
