FIELD: wood-working industry; equipment of saw mills.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes orientation and delivery of blank, milling of its disbarked part (on side of bark) and cutting of edges. In the course of treatment of half logs, rate of delivery is automatically controlled depending on amount of taken-off layer of wood and its hardness; change in delivery rate is performed by means of automatic control system according to the following formula: S=Sact.-k1·k2·(Kact.-Knom.) (at direct method of measurement of allowance) and S=Sact.-k1·k2·(Nact.-Nthr.) (at indirect method of measurement of allowance), where k1 is coefficient taking into account wood species; k2 is proportionality factor; Kact. is magnitude characterizing actual allowance; Knom. is magnitude characterizing nominal (rated) allowance; Nact. is actual load on milling cutter drive (feeds); Nthr. is threshold magnitude of load on milling cutter drive (feeds); Sact. is actual rate of delivery.
EFFECT: improved quality of milling the blanks; reduced power requirements.
