FIELD: printing.
SUBSTANCE: ink cartridge includes a site of detection the light, the first triangular prism and the second triangular prism made of transparent material and placed in the site of detection the light for receiving, deflection or refraction of light emitted by light-emitting element in the printer. Two surfaces of the second triangular prism are in contact with the ink in the ink cartridge. When the ink cartridge contains ink and is placed in the printer, the light emitted by the light-emitting element is fully reflected by the first triangular prism and refracted by the second triangular prism into the ink, and will not be perceived by the photodetector in the printer. When the ink in the ink cartridge is expended, the light is fully reflected by the second triangular prism to the first triangular prism, and is then reflected on the photodetector, and respectively, the printer detects that the ink is expended.
EFFECT: simplified manufacturing due to reducing the number of details in the site of ink detection.
