SUBSTANCE: apparatus has a first information code track made in accordance with characters of a nonlinear binary sequence with length N=2n, a second information code track made in accordance with characters of N periods of a nonlinear binary sequence with length M=2m, a regular code track made in accordance with characters of a binary sequence with length 2NM, uniformly sampled with sampling period δsk=360°/2NM, which is simultaneously the quantum value of the recursive code scale, an additional information code track made in accordance with characters of a nonlinear binary sequence with length N=2n and periodically displaced from the first information code track by 180° clockwise, reading elements along the information code tracks with defined angular spacing, from which information on the angular position of the recursive code scale is obtained.
EFFECT: elimination of ambiguity when reading information from a recursive code scale and increase in resolution.
