SUBSTANCE: invention relates to compositions of crude mixtures which can be used in making expanded clay. The crude mixture for making expanded clay contains clay material, heavy hydrocarbons from treatment facilities of oil refineries an pegmatite, with the following ratio of components, wt %: clay material 77.5-84.5; heavy hydrocarbons from treatment facilities of oil refineries - 0.5-1.5; pegmatite - 15.0-21.0.
EFFECT: high strength of articles.
