FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention utilises low-intensity electromagnetic radiation flux in the visible region from an emitter (1), e.g., a laser, which is defocused by a device (2) and directed onto a heated surface (8). A portion of the incident radiation is reflected from the surface of the object, focused by a device (3) onto a photodetector (4), e.g., a photodiode, where under the effect of that radiation, a signal is generated in form of voltage or current. The level of that signal is determined by the value of the reflected radiation, which depends on the temperature of the surface. The temperature of the analysed surface is determined by comparing the signal received from the photodetector (4) with a reference signal. The temperature measuring device has an electromagnetic radiation emitter (1), e.g., a laser, defocusing and focusing devices (2) and (3), a photodetector (4), an amplifier (5), a comparator (6), an AND circuit (7), a sawtooth generator (9), a reference frequency pulse generator (10), a binary pulse counter (11), a decoder (12), a digital comparator (13), reference code memory (14) and a display (15).

EFFECT: design of a device for measuring temperature in the entire range of possible temperatures.
