FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of modifying liquid glass, which can be used to obtain thermostatic coatings used in aviation and space industry, as well as other technical fields. Potassium, sodium, lithium or potassium-lithium liquid glass with modulus 2.8-5.2 is modified with polymer organic compounds. The modifier used is water-soluble or water-swellable derivatives of butadiene-styrene, styrene-acrylic, acetate-acrylic copolymers or polyacrylic acids, which are added in amount of 0.1-10 wt % to each type of glass at temperature 20-90°C. The mixture is stirred for 5-10 minutes at a rate of 100 rpm and then held until complete homogenisation of the composition.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain modified liquid glass which can be used to make thermostatic coatings with good operational properties.
