FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear power engineering and technology of producing mixed uranium and plutonium dioxide (UO2-PuO2) for producing nuclear fuel. The method of producing a solid solution of plutonium dioxide in a matrix of uranium dioxide involves reaction of nitrate solutions of uranium and plutonium with relative content thereof in the solution equal to 95-70 and 5-30 wt %, respectively, with hydroxylamine, which results in reduction of plutonium to a trivalent state and coprecipitation of uranium and plutonium in form of a homogeneous mixture of uranyl hydroxylaminate with plutonium hydroxide, and further decomposition of the obtained precipitate in air at 200-300°C.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a solid plutonium dioxide solution in a uranium dioxide matrix using a simple method with low power consumption.
