FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mixing and/or aeration of fluids, particularly, effluents and may be used for treatment of effluents. Fluid is aerated during first time interval by means of drowned aerator including aeration device arranged on support made up of drowned hollow case. Hollow case is flooded and air is fed via aeration device into fluid to allow nitrification in said fluid. Then, fluid is mixed during second time interval is mixed by drowned aerator. Note here that air feed is restricted or terminated while drowned hollow case is emptied for filling with gas or air. This allows drowned aerator to double as a mixer. It flows up in fluid and mixes it that allows fluid denitrification.
EFFECT: effluents nitrification and denitrification in one device.
