FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to light industry. Proposed grinder comprises casing, grinding mechanism including motor and cutting elements, and pickup. Casing has elongated narrow opening to allow feeding articles to be ground. Pickup comprises electrically conducting element arranged, at least, partially along said opening to detect presence of human being or animal nearby said opening via their electric characteristic. Device incorporates also a controller to cut off cutting elements in response to detected human being or animal. In compliance with independent patent claims 26, 37, 41, proposed grinder comprises thickness pickup instead of aforesaid pickup to define thickness of article to be ground and thickness indicator with audio or video outputs to generate audio or video signal to user. Said controller is designed to activate said indicator. Note here that, in compliance with independent patent claim 37, grinder incorporates contact extending into neck to be actuated by article fed into neck and optical pickup to measure displacement of said contact and to transmit data on said displacement to controller. In compliance with independent patent claim 41, grinder comprises additionally, at least, one detector of article received by the neck while controller allows controlling motor actuating cutting elements in response to detection of said article.
EFFECT: higher safety and reliability.
