FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a phenylalkane product. The method involves bringing benzene and at least one acyclic monoolefin containing 8-16 carbon atoms per molecule into contact with a solid catalyst in alkylation conditions, where at least a portion of benzene and at least a portion of monoolefin come into contact with the catalyst which contains an acidic FAU molecular sieve. At the same time, at least a portion of benzene and at least a portion of monoolefin are brought into contact with a catalyst which contains a UZM-8 molecular sieve. The ratio of molecular sieves FAU and UZM-8 and the distribution of benzene and monoolefin streams is controlled to obtain a phenylalkane product having 2-phenyl content between 25 and 40 wt %.
EFFECT: obtained phenylalkane is especially desirable when producing a surfactant with higher solubility and detergent power.
