FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to alkylation of aryl compounds with olefins. Method of regulating content of 2-phenyl isomer in linear alkylbenzene, obtained by alkylation of benzene by olefin, includes reaction of olefin with benzene in technological water-containing flow in presence of catalyst, as well as control of water concentration in raw material in range from absolutely dry to 100 ppm of water. Said catalyst as first component contains zeolite, selected from the group, which consists of faujasites, containing rare-earth elements, and their mixture, and as second component - zeolite, selected from the group, which consists of UZM-8, zeolite MWW, zeolite BEA, zeolite OFF, zeolite MOR, zeolite LTL, zeolite MTW, BPH/UZM-4 and their mixture.
EFFECT: in accordance with invention it is possible to obtain linear alkylbenzene, which has specified content of 2-phenyl isomer.
