FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to separator of grain and other loose materials and may be used in agriculture, flour-and-cereals industry, etc. Proposed separator operates using upflow formed by front, rear and lateral walls and comprises screen included from front wall to sear wall and intake and discharge openings. Two rhombic adjustable-thickness baffles are arranged across sidewalls above said screen with variable clearance there between. Thickness S and inclination φ of said baffle are related to critical rate on grain destruction, mean thickness d of processed particles, baffle rhomb height h, number of baffles n, and channel depth ℓ by relation 3d<n·S·h·sinφ<ℓ. Gap Ω between screen and baffle bottom edge, and inclination angle φ, mean thickness d of processed particles, baffle rhomb height h, number of baffles n, and channel depth ℓ by relation 3d<(Ω+h·sinφ)·n<0.25·ℓ.
EFFECT: higher efficiency and quality.
