FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: nanodispersed yttrium hexaboride powder is obtained via electrolysis of a melt containing the following, mol. %: sodium chloride 50.0, potassium chloride 30.0, yttrium chloride 15.0 and potassium fluoroborate 5.0, with current density 2.5-5.0 A/cm2, temperature 700-750°C for 30-40 minutes. When the melt cools down completely, the boride-salt group is washed off and dried. The obtained yttrium hexaboride has specific surface area of 30.0-43.5 m2/g and particle size 0.5-40 nm.
EFFECT: shorter process duration and high purity of the product.
