FIELD: by-product coke industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of quenching coke. Method includes supply of water for coke irrigation in pulse mode. At that, at the beginning the target value of coke temperature after quenching is set in range of 100–250 °C, then coke is quenched. Further, coke is poured onto the ramp, coke temperature is measured, and in case of its deviation from the specified value, the total duration of coke sprinkling with water during subsequent quenching is corrected.
EFFECT: obtaining uniform moisture content in all classes in coke and improving strength characteristics.
