FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: aluminium is molten; then, exothermic mixture of titanium and carbon powders and cryolite flux is added in portions in stoichiometric ratio to molten aluminium. After introduction of each portion SHS reaction and crystallisation of multiple ceramic inclusions of titanium carbide with particle size of ≤ 1-2 mcm is performed. Before the next portion of exothermic mixture is introduced, the melt is mixed; at that, alloy containing max. 10% of titanium carbide is obtained.

EFFECT: environmental safety of the method; reducing labour intensity and improving final product quality.
