FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: unloading and protection method of thrust bearing of two-sectional centrifugal compressor with back-to-back arrangement of impellers and unloading device, which has low pressure cavity and high pressure cavity between sections and individual bypassing outline of each section, is performed by changing the differential pressure on the unloading device versus the parameter determining axial force acting on the thrust bearing. Current difference in coils of electromagnets is used as the parameter determining the axial force acting on electromagnetic thrust bearing. Current difference signal is converted to axial force signal which is compared to pre-emergency and emergency values of axial force signal and control signals of closing and opening sequence of bypass valves are generated to maintain the axial force value in the allowable range.
EFFECT: improving reliability and quick action of axial force control and reduction of load on thrust bearing and its protection in multi-mode two-sectional centrifugal compressors with electromagnetic bearings and with back-to-back arrangement of impellers.
