FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: method for determining resistance of automobile steel sheets to atmospheric corrosion involves manufacture of specimen and preparation of its working surface. Also, method involves insulation of end faces and one wide face of specimen by application of molten pitched paraffin. Then, measurement of surface area of working surface is performed. After that, specimen is weighted and submerged into 3.5% NaCl solution in vertical or strictly horizontal position with exposure during 10 minutes. Then, specimen is removed from solution to the air with exposure during 50 minutes. At that, submersion and removal of specimen is performed cyclically. Then, drying after the last cycle and weighing is performed. Then, corrosion resistance is determined as per specific weight gain. At that, removal from solution and exposure in the air is performed at strictly horizontal position of working surface of specimen, and number of submersion-removal cycles is set equal at least to five.
EFFECT: development of accelerated method for determining resistance of automobile steel sheets to atmospheric corrosion.
