FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely ophthalmology, and may be used for prediction of potential macular oedema following cataract phacoemulsification. On the day following cataract phacoemulsification, a macular retina is examined by optical coherent tomography to determine the presence of a partial detachment of a posterior hyaloid membrane of vitreous body, the length of its adhesion and variations of its fixation to an internal terminal membrane of the macular retina. The presence of the partial detachment of the posterior hyaloid membrane if fixed to the internal terminal membrane within a foveola 500 mcm, as well as max. 740 mcm from the centre of the foveola from nasal side and 630 mcm - from temporal side in all meridians is a prognostic factor of a high risk of postoperative macular oedema.
EFFECT: method enables early and precise prediction of a high risk of macular oedema following cataract phacoemulsification.
