FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: method is carried out by preliminary filtration of collected acoustic data, calculation of frequency moments and application of a median filter for acoustic data. Regardless of this the binarisation method may be applied, in which a vector of criteria is used, comprising, without limitation from it, a double threshold produced on the basis of a statistical index of higher amplitudes, as a result of which improved acoustic data are reduced down to potential acoustic events at specific intervals. These intervals may represent duration of each acoustic event and are controlled to establish a correlation link with a working speed of a pump. Acoustic events, which are correlated with the working speed of the pump may represent faulty condition of the pump, for instance, when the interval is equal to approximately half of the pump cycle duration, and a leaking pump valve is represented in the same period of time.

EFFECT: reduced quantity of data subject to processing with software and hardware at a much higher lever of controllability.
