FIELD: image processing means.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to frame analysis area including image data for the defects detecting in frame. Glares in frame detection method includes frame including image data pre-processing; set of connected components definition in the preprocessed frame; calculation of the statistics set for one or more connected components from the set of connected components; making a decision for one or more connected components, based on the computed statistics set, whether the connected component is flare, at that, the said statistics set calculation includes collecting at least one directions statistics and at least one luminance gradient value along the boundary of at least one connected binarized region; and determining, taking into account of the decision made for one or more connected components by the processor, whether one or more glares are present in the frame.

EFFECT: technical result is the glares in frame detection by using the computed statistics set for connected components.
