FIELD: power generation.

SUBSTANCE: method of determining heat energy consumed by a consumer when heating an apartment building using a single-pipe heating system involves determining the total amount of heat consumed by all consumers over a given period of time, determining the amount of heat carrier consumed by the consumer, temperature of the heat carrier in the feed pipe, average temperature of the heat carrier, ambient temperature in the apartment of the consumer and average ambient temperature over the same period of time. According to the invention, flow the heat carrier through the vertical feed pipe is measured and the amount of heat consumed by the consumer over the same period of time is determined based on the obtained values. A heating system for realising said method is also disclosed.

EFFECT: determining heat energy consumed by a consumer when heating an apartment building using a single-pipe heating system, while preserving high reliability of equipment for measuring heat consumption, easier installation of said equipment and lower costs.
