METHOD OF PREDICTING DEVELOPMENT OF NEUTROPENIA, CAUSED BY COMBINED ANTIVIRAL THERAPY IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC HEPATITIS C Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC G01N33/48 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method includes in vitro definition of neutrophil damage index (NDI) before administration of IFN and ribavirin preparations. In course of test carried out is incubation of blood with 0.02 ml of neutrophil apoptosis inductor (NAI), consisting of 0.2 g of Rebetol and 1.7 mln IU Altevir, diluted in 1.0 l of isotonic solution. Smears with further microscopy are prepared. NDI is calculated by formula (N₁-Nc)/100, where N₁ is the number of damaged neutrophils in experiment; Nc is the number of the same elements in control; 100 is the number of neutrophils calculated in each smear. If NDI value is 0.26±0.01 and higher, high risk of expressed neuropenia development in said category of patients in case of further subjection of them to CAT is predicted.

EFFECT: method application makes it possible to predict and prevent development of interferon-ribavirin-induced neutropenia, thus increasing efficiency of performed CAT.
