FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: described is a method of producing a water-soluble polymer cationite through polymerisation of dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride in the presence of a radical-forming initiator, where potassium persulphate or ammonium persulphate is first used as the initiator and polymerisation continues in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, characterised by that the polymerisation process is carried out at reaction mass pH 2-5 and the pH is maintained by adding, before polymerisation begins, sulphuric or phosphoric acid solution and feeding sodium or potassium hydroxide solution during the polymerisation process; the polymerisation process is initiated by hydrogen peroxide at 23-30 wt % residual content in the reaction mass; the initiator is taken in total amount of 1.1-1.6% of the weight of the monomer; is sulphuric acid is used to maintain pH of the reaction mass, the polymerisation process is carried out in the presence of a Trilon B complexing agent taken in amount of 0.08-0.1% of the weight of the monomer.

EFFECT: obtaining a water-soluble polyelectrolyte used as flocculant.
