SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sodium salts of 2-hydroxy-6-naphthol sulphonic acid and:

where R is an allyl or acrylate group, and a method of producing latex in an aqueous medium in the presence of an emulsifier of a radical initiator and said compound as dispersant in amount of 0.1–2.0 pts.wt. to 100 pts.wt (co)monomers.
EFFECT: use of disclosed compounds as emulsion polymerisation dispersants enables to significantly improve environmental properties of the process of producing latex, since virtually completely prevents ingress of harmful naphthalene-containing compounds into waste water and substantially increases resistance of latex to temperature effects (by 10–15 °C), as well as increases aggregative stability at the polymerisation stage, preventing formation of coagulum, and formation of gel during storage of latex.
