SUBSTANCE: in one version of the present invention, the method involves transmitting a value from an access node to a device, where the value indicates the size of a first portion of an uplink resource block which is shared among a plurality of devices. The first portion of the uplink resource block is specified for transmission of a first type of signalling to the access node, and a second portion of the uplink resource block is specified for transmission of a second type of signalling to the access node. At least one transmission is received using the first and/or second portion.
