SUBSTANCE: method of demodulating differential phase-shift modulation (DPM) signals involves generation of a rectangular pulse sequence Sn(t) from a filtered demodulated signal S(t), generation of two reference rectangular pulse sequences cn(t) and sn(t) corresponding to signs of instantaneous values of in-phase cos(2πf0t) and quadrature sin(2πf0t) signals with frequency f0 equal to mean frequency of the demodulated signal, deriving two correlation functions X(t) and Y(t) over the duration T of each element of the demodulated signal S(t), taking readings Xn, Yn of said correlation functions at the end of the signal element, using said readings together with readings Xn-1 and Yn-1 of said correlation functions obtained at the end of the previous signal element to obtain magnitude values of two differences |Xn-Xn-1| and |Yn-Yn-1|, determining the value of the sum of 2 magnitude values of these two differences |Xn-Xn-1| and |Yn-Yn-1|, making a decision on the demodulated symbol based on comparison of the value of said sum with a threshold value.
