FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sorption technology. Disclosed is a long-flaming coal-based sorbent, having a mesoporous structure, BET specific surface area equal to 2-120 m2/g, particle size 0.1-7 mm and ash content equal to 8-14%. The sorbent is obtained by grinding fossil long-flaming coal, benefication without using organic reactants to obtain a concentrate, having ash content not higher than 14%, grinding the concentrate and sorting. The sorbent is used to treat natural and waste water.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain an effective carbon sorbent, having sorption and ion-exchange properties.
